Description:
A Victorian wedding bracelet from 1879 that features an *Etruscan design with an etched rectangular gold filled piece on the front and gold filled finials at the end of each of the brass hinged pieces. It is hinged in the front, and the ends overlap. This antique bracelet expands at the hinge to be worn and then closes onto the wrist. The design on the front of this vintage bangle is a butterfly on the raised rounded rectangle with some fronds and swirls. The butterfly is framed with an etched border all around the rectangle.
The bracelet is engraved with a Patent notation with the date of December 16, 1879 on the back of the front rectangular piece.
*Etruscan revival jewelry was inspired by archaeological digs in Italy in the second half of the 19th century. This type of jewelry was especially popular during a revival in the Etruscan style that took place in the 1860s‑1870s.
At the time, pairs of wedding bracelets like this one may have been given to a bride at the time of her engagement. The one bracelet would be worn until the day of the wedding. After the marriage, the bride would wear the second bracelet. One of the bracelets was sometimes passed down to a daughter or daughters.

This unique vintage wedding bracelet measures 2 1/4" x 2" closed. When opened, it will fit up to an approximate 7 1/2" wrist.

The antique bracelet is in nice antique condition for being over 142 years old. Some light use marks, tarnish and wear commensurate with antique age - see photos for detail.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
