Beautiful and unusual antique Sterling Silver wide oval locket with English hallmarks, a textured pattern design, and a hinged oval shaped lid in the front center. While most oval lockets hang with the wider side hanging vertically, this locket hangs with the wider section hanging horizontally.
The front and the back of this hallmarked English locket have a textured finish made up of small etched wavy lines. The front has an oval pocket type of lid that has a central circular cartouche on it (that is plain with no design or monogram). The most unusual thing about this locket is the way it opens. It has a hinged lid or little door type of opening on the front side that you lift up. It closes shut when pressed down. There are hallmarks on both the lid and inside on the opposite side. The indicate the locket was made in Birmingham, England in 1918. A maker’s mark of ALLd is also inside. This is the mark for the silversmith Adie & Lovekin Ltd. if Birmingham, in business in England circa 1910.
This antique locket hangs from a new Sterling Silver oval link chain with a spring ring clasp. The loop bale on the locket is a plain round ring. The sterling silver wide oval pendant locket opens and has room inside for a photo or for a small memento - it is a bit deeper than most lockets.

Condition:
In nice vintage condition with wear commensurate with vintage age - the early 1900s. Clasp works well on the Sterling Silver chain. Locket closes securely.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
