This unique and gorgeous piece is a classic antique Victorian pique work bangle bracelet, dating to the late 19th century (circa 1870-1890). For a smaller wrist (inside measures approximately 6 1/2'' around. The safety chain is marked 14K.
Material & Technique
While it looks like dark wood or jet at first glance, true pique work jewelry from this era was typically crafted from tortoiseshell or horn that was dyed black.
• The Pique Process: The base material was heated gently to soften it. Skilled artisans then pressed and inlaid precious metals directly into the surface.
• The Inlay: This bracelet features delicate gold strips and tiny star-shaped pique inlay nestled within the central grooved channel.
• The word piqué comes from the French verb meaning "to prick".
Measurements:
This unique vintage bracelet measures 2 1/2" x 2 1/4" closed. Approx. 5/8'' wide. When opened, it will fit up to an approximate 6.5" wrist - it is for a small to medium sized wrist. Mine is 6 3/4'' (see last photo) and the bracelet is snug.

Condition:
The antique bracelet is in very nice antique condition for being over 100 years old. Some light use marks and light wear commensurate with antique age - see photos for detail. Hinge works well. Safety chain is in nice condition.

14K on the safety chain spring ring clasp.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.

The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
Do you accept returns on items that have been altered?
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
What is your policy for multiple returns in a short period of time?
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
Can I purchase an item for a prop for photos, and then get a return/refund for it?
We offer customers vintage items from the past to be worn and enjoyed themselves. We cannot accept a new order when a prior item(s) has been used as a prop(s) and then returned for a refund. It will be cancelled and refunded.
