Description:
A unique late 1800s *Etruscan Revival gold filled locket with two photo compartments inside. This antique oval pendant has beautiful Etruscan style raised designs that include a geometric piece in the very center made up of 5 vertical columns that are crossed over by a thin horizontal bar. There are round bead decorations on the top and bottom of the individual vertical pieces, and in the center of the horizontal bar - these bead shapes are quite small. Around the ornate design is a wide raised oval rim. The very outer frame has a ring of raised rope design and a beaded ring around that giving the edge of this locket a matching and eye-catching outline. The locket is circa late 1800s.
This locket has depth due to the raised scrolling, beaded and framed elements. The bale also has raised rope and bead embellishments that compliment the central design. Inside this antique locket are two photo frames, both with paper backings. Both sides have the frames, backings, and covers still intact.
The Victorian piece hangs on newer 14K gold filled rope chain. A beautiful and intricate Victorian locket necklace is circa the late 1800s.
*NOTE: This locket’s style is Etruscan, as noted by the applied beading, granulation of the surface, and the rope motif used. Etruscan revival jewelry was inspired by archeological digs in Italy in the second half of the 19th century. This type of jewelry was especially popular in the 1860s‑1870s.
The locket, that has its hinge on the side, opens easily and closes securely. The spring ring clasp on the long 14K gold filled rope chain also closes securely.
Measurements:
Locket - 1 1/4” in length ( including the bale it is 2" long) and 7/8" wide. This locket is wider or thicker than most having an approximate depth of 1/3".

Condition:
In nice antique condition with wear commensurate with age. The back has some scratches where the base metal is exposed- see photos for detail. The chain in new and in good condition.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.

The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
Do you accept returns on items that have been altered?
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
What is your policy for multiple returns in a short period of time?
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
Can I purchase an item for a prop for photos, and then get a return/refund for it?
We offer customers vintage items from the past to be worn and enjoyed themselves. We cannot accept a new order when a prior item(s) has been used as a prop(s) and then returned for a refund. It will be cancelled and refunded.
