Description:
Lovely antique square shaped watch fob locket that was made by Wightman & Hough Co. The front of this gold shell locket is etched with pinstripes, an oval cartouche and a flowing leafy design. The back of this fob locket is plain with no design and a shiny finish.
This is an antique watch fob is dated with a patent in 1904. It can be worn on a pocket watch chain or attached to a necklace chain and worn as a pendant. We have attached it to a 14K gold filled rope chain that is 18'' in length. The fob/charm can be purchased with or without the chain.
Inside the locket are two rounded square compartments for photos with the frames and covers intact. The locket closes securely. The hinge is on the bottom and the locket opens from the top using a tiny knob on the edge - see photo closeup.

Fobs and pocket watches were most popular from the late 1700s through the mid-20th century, especially during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Fob watches, a type of pocket watch with a chain attached, were initially worn by both men and women but became more associated with men by the 19th century.
NOTE: The hallmark inside the locket stands for the Wightman & Hough Co. This jewelry company was established in 1856 in Providence, Rhode Island. W&H manufactured a variety of gold filled, rolled gold, and sterling silver jewelry. Their jewelry was hallmarked with a heart with the initials “W&H CO” inside. The company was known for their lockets, medallions, and seals, and made these items through the early 1920s.

Condition:
In nice antique condition with wear as would be expected an antique item that is dated 1904. Light scratching here and there. Opens as intended and closes securely. Overall very nice vintage piece! The chain is new and in good condition.

Locket - W&H Co GOLD SHELL PAT AUG 2 04 on the inner well.
The gold filled chain is stamped 1/20 14K GF on the spring ring.
