Description:
An antique gold filled and blue enamel locket in and round shape on a new 14K gold filled rope chain. The locket was made by the Wightman and Hough Company. The front of this enamel locket pendant features a small pearl prong set in the very center.
This locket, which is circa late 1800 or early 1900s, is marked. The maker's mark on the inside stands for the Wightman & Hough Company that was established in 1856 in Providence, Rhode Island. They manufactured gold-filled, rolled gold, and sterling silver jewelry. Each piece was hallmarked with a heart containing the initials “W&H CO”. They were known for lockets, medallions, and seals. They were in business through the Art Deco era.
The enamel on the front is a robin's egg shade of blue and is in nice antique condition. The back of the locket is plain gold fill with no design. The locket closes securely.
The top bale is a simple round loop. This round shaped locket has two compartments or wells inside. One well has the original frame and a plastic cover intact. The other side has only the plastic cover.
The locket hangs on a new 14K gold filled rope chain.The spring ring clasp on the 20" long 14K gold filled chain opens and closes securely.

Condition:
The locket front and back are in nice antique condition with wear as would be expected an item that is circa early 1900s. Overall, the enamel is quite nice, especially considering the age of this estate jewelry piece. There is some wear to the gold fill on the back edges of the locket where the base metal is exposed. The new chain is in good condition. See photo closeups.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
