An authentic antique Victorian pendant drop necklace - with a large and very ornate design featuring black enamel designs, a small red cabochon gem and a seed pearl with enamel accents on a 1/2” drop that is hangs below the main portion of the pendant. The antique piece is gold plated or gold filled and hangs on a vintage Bates & Bacon brass specialty chain that is adjustable in length.
In addition to the red gem and the black enamel, this large shield shaped locket has a raised design on the front with lots of texture, applied shapes, and fine detail.
NOTE: This pendant was once a locket and had a hinged door closure in the back. The door piece is missing and an oval opening remains with no cover. Inside the back of the pendant is an oval hollow area.

The pendant hangs on a brass cable chain that is adjustable for either 18" or 20 in length. The chain is marked for the Bates and Bacon Company of Attleboro, MA. The Bates & Bacon Company was in business from 1856 through 1943. The clasp on this sturdy chain has two spring ring closures that open and close securely. The locket can be purchased with or without the vintage/antique chain.
The vintage specialty chain has curb links and at approximately each inch, there is a flat link curb link section separating these curb link sections.
This locket is circa late 1800s - early 1900s. An eye catching piece of jewelry with lots of charm.

Condition:
The pendant is in fair to nice antique condition with wear and patina commensurate with this locket's antique age - circa late 1800s. NOTE - the back of the pendant is open as the oval hinged panel is missing. This was once a locket but now can be worn as a pendant. See photo closeups for details. Chain is vintage and in nice vintage condition.

Care instructions
While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
Vintage and Antique Items Only
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
Do you accept returns on items that have been altered?
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
What is your policy for multiple returns in a short period of time?
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
Can I purchase an item for a prop for photos, and then get a return/refund for it?
We offer customers vintage items from the past to be worn and enjoyed themselves. We cannot accept a new order when a prior item(s) has been used as a prop(s) and then returned for a refund. It will be cancelled and refunded.
