Description:
Lovely fob necklace with a rectangle stone center and a shield shape that features 2 unique sides. Both have decorative gold edges with etched designs while the centers are rectangular stones with etched intaglio designs on them. The two sides have different intaglio figures. One side is a red/orange color and appears to be Carnelian while the other is darker black onyx. The stones are held in place with four curled pieces on each side. The carnelian side has chips in the stone at the bottom on both sides - see photo close ups. The antique fob pendant hangs from a new 14K gold filled rope chain. The pendant itself is dated with a patent mark from 1878 at the top on both sides of the bale.
What is a fob?
A fob necklace is a modern necklace style based on the chains that once held pocket watches, often featuring a distinctive T-bar clasp and a decorative pendant or "fob" at the end. Think about those worn by gentlemen on the TV show The Golded Age.
The antique pendant hangs from a new 14K gold filled rope chain that is 19” in length. The spring ring closure opens and closes securely. The fob can be purchased with or without the chain.

Condition:
In fair to nice antique condition with wear as would be expected an antique item that is late 1800s in age. On the Carnelian side of the fob, there are chips on both the left and right bottom of the rectanglular piece. The black onyx side is all intact with no chips. See photos for detail.
Chain is in good condition as it is new, clasp works well.
Markings:
Pendant is marked PAT NOV 26 78 on both sides of the bale.
The gold filled chain is stamped 1/20 14K GF the spring ring clasp.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
