Description:
An antique gold filled pocket watch chain and square locket fob. This antique fob and watch chain are classic pieces of late 1800s/early 1900s jewelry and features an etched design on the locket front and a plain back.
This piece is what we refer to as a “Timeworn Treasure” as it has wear from the past, but still has pleasure to provide in the present and future.
The antique chain is a 15" long curb chain. There is another slightly heavier chain that slides through this long chain using a triple looped piece. This shorter chain that passes through the longer chain is 2 1/2” long and attaches to a bar at one end, and the square locket fob at the other end. There are two types of chains on this shorter length - a curb section and a heavier cable section. The dog chain is on the longer chain, and is marked SP inside a diamond shape on the side. There are no markings on the locket.
The square locket that hangs has lightly etched designs that are hard to discern on the front as there are scratches as well. (There is a small building on the left, and a horizon on the right of it.) The back of the fob locket is plain with no design and is quite scratched.
Inside are two wells that can each hold a square photo. One side has the frame intact, an original daguerreotype photo of young girl, and a glass cover over it. The photo is very old, circa late 1800s.
NOTE:
Fobs and pocket watches were most popular from the late 1700s through the mid-20th century, especially during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Fob watches, a type of pocket watch with a chain attached, were initially worn by both men and women but became more associated with men by the 19th century.
This piece is circa late 1800s/early 1900s and has wear commensurate with its age.

Condition:
In fair antique condition with use marks/wear/patina commensurate with antique age (most likely over 125 years old). Some of the gold fill has worn down to expose the base metal on the, chain, the bar and on the Albert dog chain clip. See photos for details.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
