Description:
Lovely vintage silver round locket with the raised letters IHS with a small cross etched in the center that hangs on a fine sterling silver chain. Inside the letters IHS are some chased horizontal lines providing contrast. The back of the religious themed locket is plain with no design. This locket opens in a unique way - the front is like a small door that swings open to reveal the larger and deeper side of the piece. This more rounded and deeper side has curved edges. The front side of the locket is flat with no depth.
NOTE: The chain is sterling silver or 925 silver, while the locket itself is not, and is most likely 800 silver. Eight hundred silver contains 80% silver and 20% another alloy, usually copper. It has been commonly used in the production some silverware and was also used by European silversmiths in the past.
The inside of the locket can hold photos or some small mementos as it is thicker and more bubble shaped than most lockets. The locket closes securely.
The vintage locket is attached to a vintage 925 sterling silver 18” long chain has a spring ring clasp that opens and closes securely.

Condition:
In fair to nice vintage condition with wear as would be expected a vintage item. Some small impressions / imperfections are on the front. The back side, being plain, shows more wear. See photos for detail.
The chain is vintage and in nice condition with age appropriate patina and wear.
Markings:
The 18” long sterling silver chain is stamped 925 on the spring ring clasp and on the tag neat the clasp.
Note:
The letters IHS are called a "Christogram," and is an ancient way of writing the word "Jesus Christ”.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
