Description:
Beautiful (and very LARGE!) antique silver tone compact locket. This locket pendant is from the 1930s and made by R&G Co. (see note below). The front features a hand painted guilloche design (some wear to the bottom of the blue design). Blue checkered design, two pink flowers with green leaves along the top and a gold colored swan in water with greenery surrounding.
This large locket was once a makeup compact. When you open the compact, there is a mirror and a place for loose powder. The mirror in the interior top is in fair to good condition, no cracks, one or two flea bites on the edges. The bottom has a rotating dial loose powder well or rouge pot. It is marked for R&G Co.
About R & G Co.: Ripley & Gowan Co., Attleboro, Massachusetts. Established in 1874, and incorporated in 1921. In 1968, the company was acquired by Barrow Industries, and then in 1981 by JED Industries. R&G marketed jewelry lines in the names of R&G, R&G Co., LaMode, and the R&G letters within a padlock. The earliest compacts date from the 1930's.
We've attached this silver colored compact to a sterling silver chain that is very long - approximately 30'' in length. The pendant can be purchased with or without the chain.
Measurements:
Locket pendant is 1 3/4" in wide (at widest). It hangs approximately 2" long (without the bail).

Condition:
This antique vintage makeup compact is in fair to nice vintage condition. Some wear here or there and wear to the blue enamel on the bottom of the pendant (see photos and video for details). A few small flea bites on the sides of the mirror inside. Price reflects condition. Chains is in very nice condition, clasp works well. Amazing vintage piece, absolutely beautiful!

Chain is marked ITALY 925 near the lobster clasp.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
