Description:
Lovely antique rose *gold shell round photo locket on a 14K rose gold filled chain. The locket front features an etched starburst shape that is set with a clear round diamond gemstone in the very center of the circular pendant. The small diamond chip that is bead set in the center of an etched starburst is approximately 2mm in size. The back of this vintage locket has what appears to be the monogram "DAC" in an old and very swirling cursive font. The locket closes securely with a snap.
Inside the locket there are two round wells for photos. The compartments both have the frames intact.
NOTE:
The W&H hallmark on the inside of this locket stands for the Wightman & Hough Company that was established in 1856 in Providence, Rhode Island. They manufactured gold-filled, rolled gold, and sterling silver jewelry. Each piece was hallmarked with a heart containing the initials “W&H CO”. They were known for lockets, medallions, and seals. They were in business through the Art Deco era. The locket closes securely with a snap.
*Gold shell is a somewhat uncommon marking for jewelry, but was used in the past to indicate the fraction denominating the portion of the piece (by weight) that is gold. For example 1/4 Gold Shell as noted on this locket means that 1/4 or 25% of the locket is gold by weight.
This antique round locket hangs from a vintage, new 18" long 14K rose gold filled cable chain. The bale is a plain round loop. The locket, that has its hinge on the bottom, opens from the top and closes securely. The spring ring clasp on the new curb link chain also closes securely.

Condition:
In nice antique condition with light wear commensurate with an antique item that is circa early 1900s. Has some small impressions and light scratching on the front top area that are seen upon close inspection - see photos for detail.

W&H CO inside a heart shape and 1/4 GOLD SHELL are stamped inside one of the inner wells
The chain is marked 1/20 14K GF on the spring ring clasp

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
