Description:
Vintage Gold Filled locket made by the Walter E. HAYWARD Company in a type of a rectangular shield shape with an etched front along with some ornate raised designs on the top, the bottom, and side edges. It hangs on a 14K gold filled curb chain that is 18” long. (The locket is hallmarked for the W.E. Hayward Company inside one of the photo wells.)
NOTE:
The Walter E. Hayward Company operated out of Attleboro, MA from 1934 to approximately 1950.
The front features etched vertical lines, chevron shapes, and an oval cartouche in the very center. All around the top and bottom edges, making a frame for the ornate locket are some raised shell shapes. On both sides of the locket, in addition to these top and bottom designs, is a extended area with raised rounds and rope shapes.
The back of this unusually shaped locket has the characteristic pinstripes of the Massachusetts based jeweler, Walter E. Hayward, whose company made this locket circa early to mid century. The back also has the twisted rope scalloped design around the top and bottom portion of the locket as does the front.
The locket's hinge is on the right and it opens from the left. It closes securely with a snap. Inside are 2 square shaped photo wells.
The fanned bale has a vertical channel down the middle and from it hangs the new 14K gold filled curb link chain.
Measurements:
Measures 7/8" long without the bale, 1" long (not including bale loop) and is approx. 3/4" wide at widest section
Chain is 18" long
Weighs 6.4 grams including locket and chain.

In nice vintage condition with wear as would be expected an items of this age - ca early mid century. Chain is new and in very nice condition.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
