Beautiful 12K gold filled oval photo locket with a raised and chased design on the front. The inside of the locket is empty, and is ready to hold two of your photographs. The top of the front of the locket front features raised flowers and leaves. At the bottom there is an etched scalloped band. At the very bottom of the oval is a bit of textured design.
This oval sweetheart locket is an amazing find - it is circa 1940s but is new - New Old Stock (NOS). It is one of the lockets off of a display board that came from an old jewelry shop. See the last photo of the display board that shows off the shiny Fisher lockets from the mid century (see the woman in the classic dress showing off her quality Fisher locket).
There are two oval wells on the interior for photos. Both have the frames still intact. The back of the locket is plain with no design and has the JMF hallmark at the bottom. The locket clauses securely with a snap. The oval locket is circa 1940s.
The vintage locket is attached to the original vintage 12K gold filled rope chain that is 30'' in length, which is considered opera length.
What is “New Old Stock”? New old stock (NOS) is a term used to describe items that while vintage, are new and unused, as they have never been sold to a customer. NOS items are often still in their original packaging and may no longer be manufactured (as is the case with these vintage lockets).
NOTE: The JMF Jewelry Company was founded by John M. Fisher and Charles R. Harris in 1879. Originally known as Harris and Fisher, in 1885 the company became the JM Fisher Company, hence the JMF. The company operated until 1949 in Attleboro, MA.
This style of necklace is commonly referred to as a "sweetheart" locket. They were popular gifts during the WWII Era, and were often given by soldiers to their sweethearts.

Condition:
In very nice vintage condition. A small round discoloration on the bottom right side in the shiny portion of the scalloped band that is noticeable upon close inspection. See photo closeups for detail. This locket is New old stock - the envelope backing was opened by me to inspect the chain. The locket is still attached to the original backing! Any wear on the locket would be from storage over the years. Item's price reflects condition.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
