Description:
A classy antique Art Nouveau gold filled round gold filled photo locket on a 14K gold filled chain. This beautiful locket has a repousse design on the front that is religious with a cross and an Easter lily at the foot of the cross. The cross on the top center front features clear "paste" stones set in the cross. Below that and to the is a raised lily. At the sides of this central design are palm fronds that reach up and around the locket front from the base to the sides of the cross. There are a total of 11 round faceted paste stones that are set in the inside the etched cross that is in the center of this vintage locket. This locket was made by the Wightman and Hough Company of Providence, RI - see NOTE below.
The back of this Art Nouveau Era locket is plain with no design and has a satin finish. NOTE: There is pitting and some loss to the gold fill on the back where the base metal is exposed - see photos for detail.
There are two round photo wells inside the locket - one on each side of the antique pendant. The wells have the frames and plastic covers intact and both have an old black and white photo: one of a man and one of a woman that are circa early 1900s.

++The hallmark inside the locket stands for the Wightman & Hough Co. This jewelry company was established in 1856 in Providence, Rhode Island. W&H manufactured a variety of gold filled, rolled gold, and sterling silver jewelry. Their jewelry was hallmarked with a heart with the initials “W&H CO” inside. The company was known for their lockets, medallions, and seals, and made these items through the early 1920s.
++"Paste" stones are a type of cut glass. Paste stones were mainly produced to imitate the look of diamonds and other precious gemstones. The most commonly used material for paste was lead glass.
This antique round locket hangs from a 20” long 14K gold filled curb link chain. The locket has its hinge on the bottom and it opens from the top. The spring ring clasp on the chain opens easily and closes securely.

Condition:
In fair to nice antique condition with wear on both sides as would be expected an antique item that is circa early 1900s. The back side and the edges have pitting and some loss to the gold fill where the base metal is exposed. Some of the clear paste stones have darkened with age - see photos for details. Price reflects condition.
Markings:
Locket is stamped W&H CO in one of the inner wells under the photo.
The gold filled chain is stamped 1/20 14K GF on a tag near the spring ring clasp.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
