An adorable vintage 10K gold filled heart shaped locket with an ornately decorated front. The outside of the heart features raised flowers with leaves. The center design is a larger pink colored rhinestone or "paste" stone with nine surrounding smaller, faceted pink paste stones. The locket bale is ornate with additional raised designs. Beautiful and ornate vintage locket circa 1930s/1940s.
NOTE:
What is paste? Paste means stones made of various kinds of cut glass. Lead glass was most commonly used in the past to imitate diamonds in the 18th and 19th centuries, but paste stones were later colored by adding various metallic oxides. In more recent times, the makers of paste stones can imitate the color of almost any precious gemstone.
The back of the locket is plain with no design. It has a shiny finish and has some wear to the back (a few small indentations, and some wear from age) - see photos for details.
The interior of the locket has two frames that are heart shaped and can hold two photos (one on each side). Both original frames are intact. The locket does not close with a snap, it presses closed and remains closed.
The vintage 10K gold filled locket hangs from a vintage gold colored (gold tone 925 sterling silver) rope chain which secures with a spring clasp.

Condition:
In fair vintage condition with some use marks here and there and some (approx. 3) small indentations on the back of the locket - commensurate with vintage age - circa 1940s or earlier. See photos for detail. Price reflects condition. Chain is in nice vintage condition, the clasp works well.

Locket is marked 1/20 10K GF (and what appears to be LS CO) on the decorative bale
Chain is marked NC 925 on the spring ring clasp - silver gilded with a thin layer of gold.
NOTE: The hallmark LS CO stands for the Louis Stern Company of Providence, RI. The company was in business from 1871 until approximately 1950.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
