Description:
Antique Sterling Silver Art Deco necklace that features marcasite stones set in a starburst on the front. This substantial locket from Germany is a rectangular book shape. The corners are rounded and the edges show the Sterling Silver. The locket hangs on an oval bale that is hallmarked. The chain on this locket is newer vintage, and is a Sterling Silver wide cable link chain that is 24" long.
There are a total of 11 faceted marcasite stones on the eye-catching starburst in the center front of this black enamel and silver necklace. The stones are in varying sizes with the largest in the very center and the two smallest above and below the center marcasite. The marcasite stones are round and faceted and are set inside the star shape that has 8 points. The back of this larger sized locket is plain black enamel with no other design.
The interior of this locket has a gilt finish. One of the wells is empty while the other has the plastic cover and the frame intact. Under the plastic cover are two old black and white photos: one of a young boy, and the other of a little girl. They photos are circa 1930s.
The hinge is on the left side and the locket opens on the right side. It closes securely. There is a little fold over piece on the one side that keeps the locket closed.

Condition:
The locket is in fair to nice antique condition with wear commensurate with vintage age, circa 1920 - 1930s. The top left corner has a chip in the enamel which is shown in a closeup in the 3rd to last photo in this listing. There is scratching on the enamel on both front and back of the locket - see photo closeups for details. The chain is in good condition.
Markings:
Pendant's bale is marked STERLING and GERMANY. The loop on the top of the locket has an S stamp and a pictorial maker's mark as well. The chain is marked 925 on the lobster clasp, and ITALY and 925 on a tag near the clasp. The clasp opens as intended and closes securely.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
