LOCKED LOCKETS - Lockets that continue to give joy!
“Locked Lockets” are vintage lockets that had a broken hinge or clasp and as such, were not able to be worn. They are still amazing pieces of the past that had so much personality to offer! So, we have transformed them into adorable pendants.
Why do we do this? Some of the most touching vintage lockets often have unrepairable clasps or hinges. Repurposing these "Timeworn Treasures" into pendants for necklaces means they will continue to provide joy!
We have sealed this 12K gold filled heart locket, repurposing a sweet piece of estate jewelry to be worn and enjoyed once again.
This vintage locket had an unrepairable clasp. But it also had a very special look - we loved its size and how it had engraved name Carol and the pinstripes on the back. It is a Hayward classic.
A vintage 12K gold filled heart shaped etched pendant that is/was hallmarked for the WE HAYWARD Company that features an ornately etched and engraved front. The front has a cartouche that has the engraved name Carol in an old block font. This rectangular shaped cartouche has some very small etched flourishes all around it. There are etched shapes on either side of the small cartouche as well, a curved shape across the center of the heart and a flower at the top and the bottom of the heart. The back of this locket has vertical pinstripes with tiny flower shapes inside the columns in spaced lines all across it. This is a typical design for a W. E. Hayward piece. NOTE: This pendant was once a locket with a broken clasp. It has been permanently sealed and is now a pendant. The pendant necklace is still quite lovely, and packs plenty of vintage charm. The last photo in this listing shows the inside of the locked locket before it was sealed.
The bale loop on the pendant is also very ornate with three decorative curved pieces at the top. The very center piece connects to the fanned bale. The bale also is a unique shape that compliments the locket itself.
The locked locket hangs from a new 14K gold filled chain. It has a spring ring clasp. The clasp on the new chain opens and closes securely.
Measurements:
Measures 1/4" long (including bale loop) and is approx. 7/8" wide at widest section at the top of the heart.
Chain is 18" long.

Markings:
Before it was sealed, one of the the inner locket wells is/was marked HAYWARD 1/20-12K GOLD FILLED inside a raised rectangle. The Walter E. Hayward Company operated out of Attleboro, MA from 1934 to 1approximately 1950.
Chain is marked 1/20 14K GF on the clasp.
Condition:
In nice vintage condition with wear as would be expected an antique item that is circa 1930s.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
