Description:
A classic round antique gold filled locket featuring a monogrammed front with the initials "GEM” in an old cursive script. The back side of this circa early 1900s locket is plain with no decoration and has a shiny finish. The locket opens from the top and has a hinge on the bottom. This type of monogrammed item was very popular during the Edwardian era, like the last listing photo of my Great Aunt and Grandmother circa 1905. This locket is hallmarked W&H on one of the inner wells. The locket closes securely with a snap.
This hallmark is for the Wightman & Hough Company that was established in 1856 in Providence, Rhode Island. They manufactured gold-filled, rolled gold, and sterling silver jewelry. Each piece was hallmarked with a heart containing the initials “W&H”. They were known for lockets, medallions, and seals. They were in business through the Art Deco era.
There are two photo compartments inside this antique locket. Both have the frame and the original plastic covers still intact. One side has a pink foil backing while the other side does not and shows the W&H CO hallmark. The bale is a plain loop.
The vintage locket hangs on a new 18” long cable chain that is marked as 14K gold filled.

Condition:

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
