Description:
A unique late 1800s to early 1900s *Etruscan Revival mixed metal locket with 2 oval photo compartments inside. This antique pendant has beautiful Etruscan style raised designs that include a central applied leafy textured design on the front, and tiny rope borders on the front and back edges as well as on the decorative bale. The locket is tri-colored as is the unique specialty chain. The front features raised tall feathery leaves that curve to one side of the locket. One of the tall slender leaves is in a rose gold color and the other has a silver / gun metal color. They connect at the base with a tiny curled yellow gold colored stem. Around this distinctive front leafy design is a wide raised oval rim. On the very outer frame, beyond this wide plain frame, there is a raised rope design forming a ring of an intricate lacy pattern all around the front of this antique oval locket.
The back is plain in the center but it does have a small and subtle raised rope design around the inner edge where there is a raised oval.
The locket is circa late 1800s - early 1900s.
There is a hinge on the bottom of the left side of the locket, and it opens on the right side using the little tabbed pieces on its side.
Inside this antique locket are 2 oval photo wells with the frame, and glass covers intact. One side has a turquoise colored backing also present under the glass.
This locket has a bit of depth. The fanned and tiered fold over bale also has raised embellishments that compliment the central design of the locket itself. The bale folds over one of the round links on the center of the specialty chain.
The oval 2 photo locket hangs on a foliate themed specialty chain with leaf shaped links that are tri-colored that alternate with round textured links that are gold colored. These individual links on the chain have an ornamental textured finish and are shaped like tiny leaves. The leaves are both rose gold and yellow gold colored. There are little swirls at the top of each tiny leaf that are a gun metal color. The leaf links are connected by the textured round links that are the yellow gold color.
A beautiful and ornate Victorian locket necklace is circa late 1800s when an Etruscan Revival was in full swing.
*NOTE: This locket’s style is Etruscan, as noted by the applied designs, granulation of the surfaces, and use of a rope motif. Etruscan revival jewelry was inspired by archeological digs in Italy in the second half of the 19th century.
The oval locket closes securely. The spring ring clasp on the heavy specialty chain also closes securely.

Locket - 1 1/3" in length (not including the bale) and 1 1/8" wide. With the bale, the locket has a 2" drop.

Condition:
In nice antique condition with wear and patina commensurate with vintage age. There is a small dent in the back of the locket. More patina and some verdigris on the back side of the chain. See photos for details.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
