Description:
An antique locket in an oval shape with a central shield shaped cartouche surrounded by a raised floral and swirling design that fills the locket front. This locket was made by the KJ Company of Germany - see NOTE below. The locket hangs on a vintage twisted link rope chain that is 24" long. Both the locket and the chain are brass. The locket is circa early 1900s in age.
The design on the locket’s front and the back are the same, so both sides are lovely. However, one side of this antique oval pendant does show slightly more wear than the other.
NOTE:
The hallmark inside this locket stands for the Kollmar & Jourdan Company of Pforzheim, Germany. It was founded by Emil Kollmar and Wilhelm Jourdan. According to the history of the company, they produced gold-plated chains and gold-plated goods. (And obviously some that were jeweler's brass as is this locket.) The factory was destroyed circa 1945 during the World War II time period.
This locket has 2 wells inside that have oval covers and frames. The frames fit inside loosely. Both sides of this locket have a sepia toned photo inside: one of a young man and the other of a younger boy.
The top bale is a simple round loop. This locket has the hinge on the bottom, and opens using the little raised piece on the top.
The spring ring clasp on the vintage 24" long rope chain opens and closes securely. The chain is made of jeweler's brass.

1 1/4” long. The locket is 3/4” wide at its widest section.

Markings:
The locket is marked KJ with an arrow through the letters that is inside the well with the photo of the older boy.
Condition:
The locket is in fair to nice antique condition with wear and some patina commensurate an item that is circa early 1900s. One side shows more wear than the other. See photos and video for details. The chain is in fair to nice vintage condition with wear and patina commensurate with age.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
