Description:
A patented design on an antique round gold filled locket necklace with an etched design and six “paste" stones on a new 14K gold filled chain. The front of this round antique hallmarked gold filled locket has a unique design with some etched leafy and geometric shapes accented with paste gems.
NOTE:
What are paste stones? "Paste" stones are a type of cut glass that was produced to imitate the look of expensive gems. The most commonly used material for paste was lead glass. The faux stones on this locket are red and clear in color.
The five clear colored paste stones and one red colored paste stone are set in the locket front. The red stone is in the center top of the locket with some etched leafy shapes above it. From this red paste stone comes a ray design with 5 etched rays coming outward from the top to the bottom. The rays have a clear paste gem set at the bottom of each where they widen to the width of the paste stones.
The back side of this antique locket is plain with no design and has a shiny finish. There is some wear to the base metal on the back in a few places - see photos for detail.
There are two photo wells inside that each hold a round photo. Both frames are intact and one side has a plastic cover in place. The Art Nouveau Era locket is early 1900s in age. The locket is hinged on the bottom and opens from the top.
The locket is hallmarked with a 1902 patent date inside. The hinge is on the bottom and this locket opens from the top. It opens nicely and closes securely.
The chain is hallmarked near the end of the chain on one side. The chain is a new gold filled cable link chain that has a spring ring clasp. The clasp opens and closes securely as does the locket itself.

Locket: Approximately 1 1/3” diameter (not including the large bail ring. With the bale loop it is about 1 1/2" long)

Condition:
This gold filled locket is in nice antique condition with wear commensurate with age - early 1900s. Some pitting on the gold fill on the locket back - see photos for detail.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
