Description:
Beautiful vintage gold filled oval locket that is hand engraved with a whimsical floral and swirling vine design, the raised emblem of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and crowned with a fancy filigree top and a decorative fanned bale. This circa mid century locket has both a wonderful etched design and the colored enamel to make it an eye catching necklace indeed. It was most likely once owned by someone who was married to, or served themselves, as a Mountie in Canada. The locket is mid century or earlier in age.
The gold filled and enamel design on the front is that of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The enamel colors used in tiny areas are red and blue. The crown on the top has red enamel. The emblem and motto show a maple leaf wreath with a ribbon bearing the word Canada with a crown above. The words “Royal Canadian Mounted Police” in blue enamel are below. There is a ribbon banner design bearing the words “Maintien le droit” below a buffalo head that is in the very center. These words mean “uphold the right”.

The large oval locket pendant opens easily and has two oval areas for photos inside. The paper backing, plastic covers and the frames are intact in both sides of the inner locket wells. The locket opens from the left and has its hinge on the right. It closes securely with a snap.
The design is on the front of the locket while the back is plain with no etched design. The back has the text GOLD FILLED and the B for Burkhart hallmark at the bottom.
The locket hangs on a sturdy vintage gold filled twisted rope chain that closes with a spring ring clasp.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
