Description:
An antique round gold filled locket necklace with an etched shield shape cartouche in the center and vertical pinstripes on either side. There are some tiny curled accent shapes around this cartouche. Around the edges at the top, left side and right side are some small etched floral shapes. This locket is what we refer to as a “Timeworn Treasure” as it shows signs of wear but is able to be enjoyed for many more years.
The back side of this antique locket is plain with no design and has a satin finish.
There are two photo wells inside that each would be able to hold a photo. One well has the hallmark. The Art Nouveau Era locket has a patent mark on the inside that has the date of August 2, 1904.
The front and the back of this hallmarked for the Whitman and Hugh Jewelry Company piece are circa early 1900s. (See NOTE below about this company.) The hinge is on the bottom and this locket opens from the top. It opens nicely and closes securely with a snap.
NOTES:
The hallmark inside the locket stands for the Wightman & Hough Co. This jewelry company was established in 1856 in Providence, Rhode Island. W&H manufactured a variety of gold filled, rolled gold, and sterling silver jewelry. Their jewelry was hallmarked with a heart with the initials “W&H CO” inside. The company was known for their lockets, medallions, and seals, and made these items through the early 1920s.
The chain is a new 14K gold filled Rolo link chain that has a spring ring clasp. The bale on the locket is a plain round loop. The clasp on the chain opens and closes securely.

Condition:
This gold filled locket is in fair to nice antique condition with wear to and some scratching on the front and the back. There is some wear to the etched pinstripes on the front where some of the vertical columns of lines have worn down and have less depth than some others. While the wear can be seen, this vintage locket is still adorable and as a “Timeworn Treasure” it still has much pleasure to give. This locket is dated 1904.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
