Description:
A spectacular antique gold filled necklace that features bookchain links with an etched round locket hanging in the center on a quite unique center piece that also is the clasp closure.
The links in this bookchain are rectangular. Each of the links are approximately 7mm long x 6mm wide. They have a background with two different etched designs: one on on the top and and one on bottom panels of each of the links. One side has a design that is a stylized rectangular shape and the other design on the other side is a cross cross shape with tiny curls on the sides of the cross shape.
The 18” long bookchain necklace has a very unique front closure that also functions as a bale for the vintage hanging locket pendant. The center of this 1 1/4” long gold filled tube closure and holder for the locket has a central piece with a bale loop where the round locket is attached. The closure itself locks when the small piece that fits inside one end of the tube is pushed in. The 2 ends of the tube closure have small decorative etched rectangular pieces on them.
The round gold filled locket has a center shield shape with some curled leafy flourishes etched around it. The remainder of the antique locket front has a texturized finish with 5 zig zagged vertical columns that are not textured, giving the front a nice bit of highlight and contrast. The back of the locket is plain with no design.
Inside this antique form locket are two photo compartments with the frames and plastic covers still intact. There is a hallmark in the center of one of the interior wells that is quite worn but appears to be an English hallmark.

Condition:
In nice antique condition with wear commensurate with age - late 1800 to early 1900. More wear more and a small impression being noticeable on the back. On one side of the chain, one of the links is missing on one of the top panels - see photos for detail. Price reflects this condition.
Marked:
Locket is gold filled and has the hallmark of three symbols that are quite worn and indiscernible. One symbol has a W inside a type of square shape, while the others are not identifiable.
The gold filled necklace chain is unmarked.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
