Description:
Beautiful antique gold filled shield shaped locket necklace with an ornate design with rows of clear paste gems that frame the sides and the top edges. There are a total of 24 paste (glass) stones on the front. There is a row on either side of 7 stones for a total of 14, and two rows of five for a total of 10 along the top edge. At the bottom of the locket is a raised fleur de lis design at the base. These gems and the fleur de lis accent the raised oval in the shield shape’s center. In between the rows of paste gems and the central oval is a row of raised leafy designs that compliment the fleur de lis at the bottom of the shield shape.
NOTE: "Paste" stones are a type of cut glass. Paste stones were mainly produced to imitate the look of diamonds. The most commonly used material for paste was lead glass.
This Art Nouveau era locket has a plain back with no design and a satin finish.
The locket is yellow gold filled and the 24 paste stones are clear glass.
The interior of the locket has two photo wells that each hold a photo that are in a shield shape. One side in the well has the hallmark for the SKM Company. Both of the frames are still intact. This unique gold filled locket has the hinge on the left side and it opens from the right.
The locket was made by the S.K. Merill Company and is from the early 1900s. The S.K. Merill Company manufactured jewelry from 1871-1915. This type of locket was very popular during the Art Nouveau era.
The vintage gold locket filled hangs from a new 14K gold filled oval link chain. The fanned bale has some decorative ridges vertically. The spring ring clasp opens and closes securely as does the locket.
This locket is circa early 1900s.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
