Description:
A unique late 1800s Etruscan Revival mixed metal locket with two photo compartments inside. This antique be-ribboned oval pendant has beautiful Etruscan style raised designs that include a row of 3 seed pearls in the very center with raised ribbon shapes or scrolls around it. Behind the 3 small seed pearls are three beaded columns that terminate with 2 silver colored rounds. The back is plain with a matte finish. The hinge on this locket is on the right and it opens from the left.
Around the front and the back of this larger sized locket's oval design is a wide raised oval rim that is gold filled. Different parts of this mixed metal Victorian Era piece appear to be brass and a gold tone metal. This locket has nice depth due to the raised seed pearls, scrolling, and framed elements.
The tear shaped bale has an open hook in the back so this locket can easily be changed and hung from another chain or worn as a brooch. The bale has a raised outline with a depressed area in the center that compliments the central design of this antique estate jewelry pendant.
The inside of the antique locket contains the two original inserts with metal backing plates and their beveled glass covers. There are two old photos inside: one of a woman and one of a man. They are old sepia tone photos and are circa late 1800s.
The Victorian piece hangs on a new 14K gold filled oval link chain. A beautiful and intricate Victorian locket necklace is from the late 1800s when an *Estruscan Revival was in full swing.
*NOTE: This locket’s style is Etruscan, as noted by the applied beading, granulation of the surface, and the rope motif used. Etruscan revival jewelry was inspired by archeological digs in Italy in the second half of the 19th century. This type of jewelry was especially popular in the 1860s‑1870s.
The form locket opens easily by pressing the small rounds on the side in opposite directions and it closes as intended. The spring ring clasp on the 22" long gold link chain closes securely.

Locket - 2” in length ( including the bale) and 1" wide. Without the bale, the oval locket itself is 1 1/4" long. This locket is wider or thicker than most having an approximate depth of 1/3".

In fair to nice antique condition with wear on the finish on both on the front and back of this locket and on the bale that is commensurate with antique age - see photos for detail. Through time, still simply a unique and beautiful antique locket with charm to spare!

The gold filled chain is stamped 1/20 14K GF near the spring ring clasp.

While vintage and antique jewelry items have endured the test of time, we offer recommendations so that they continue to give you years of wear. We advise removing jewelry for washing hands, dishes, sports, before sleeping and during vigorous activity as they may be damaged. Wash your jewelry with warm water, mild, detergent-free soap, and a soft toothbrush.
The jewelry pieces in our shop are vintage or antique pieces. We do not sell modern day (new) reproductions. As such, all of our jewelry is used and has been worn and enjoyed prior to your purchase. We try very best to accurately describe the condition of each piece and show the condition in our photos.
We accept returns and refund on items only if the item is in the same condition it was when it was sent to the customer. If you choose to alter/change/modify an item, it is not eligible for a return or refund.
We gladly accept returns for a full refund. However, when more than 4 returns from the same shipping address are requested within a 2 month period, we cannot accept a new order. It will be cancelled and fully refunded.
